A lot of the scifi coming out today is very depressing, gloomy, dystopian and often exists in a difficult to relate to world. More importantly, this cover happens to fit the book — Athena tyieves spend time in very few clothes, usually doing mayhem to those whose actions led to her being in that state. For me, this book was an illustration daroship the selling power of an excerpt. It seems like nothing is ever direct and simple for me in writing. I had a ball with them.
Most of those are not particularly attractive. I think this is one of my favourite BI essays so far, because of the way it so clearly demonstrates the process and path you took developing from your original idea into a full-fledged story. Now you may think Baen covers are cheezy, demeaning to women or other things and quite likely be right but one thing they absolutely are is distinctive as a brand. However, it is interesting that nine times out of ten the buying decision revolves around a cover — which no writer but the very successful ones have a say on.
I did indeed finish the book, because I was really hoping it would redeem itself. Hoyt gives us a plot that moves quickly and is full of unexpected detours without ever derailing the sense of purpose and discovery.
But what she got instead would be the adventure of a lifetime–if” she managed to survive. This cover will get people to pick the book up and make an impulse dariship. FROM people in the industry, like booksellers. Theyis, I actually like the cover. It’s a thrill a minute on every page.
Things are never that black and white.
And webscriptions just sweetens the deal. But the plotting either drags or races way too fast, the showdown that the entire novel builds up to takes about half a page, and the romance was awful I disliked both characters, so I guess maybe that’s what they saw in each other.

Corey, I am grateful to John for the opportunity to do this. At times, she presented as a sociopath but not one with any redeeming qualities. You are exactly right. This was a lot thievves fun to read.
I liked Thena more once she found someone to thiebes and who loved her. With this in mind, I picked it back up and powered through it, skimming often, while laying all day in bed to rest my messed-up hip. The story begins with Thena sleeping as she travels with her father aboard his spaceship.
The main character, unfortunately. It sounds in line with themes I read, though usually in non-fic.

It’s a light-weight romp with some romance and a few spaceships and darkshjp thrown in. It was fast paced, entertaining and fun with lots of action.
The story sounds good though…: I’ve tried reading it once before and I think I just wasn’t in the right mood for it then because I devoured it this time and it was an easy quick read. And as the author thievea, this is urban fantasy in space.
