It’s just so surprising to me how young Amelia Rhodes amwlia when she wrote this! Girls, stay home and wash your hair instead. The title of the book is actually the last line of this poem and I liked that she linked them as to not take complete credit. Caryn tries desperately to be her friend. Also felt like ‘Jessica’ was really ‘Amelia Atwater-Rhodes’, who then tried to make her come across as strong, beautiful and aloof, when in fact I found her incredibly rude and stupid.

Of course this is why it is so confusing to write sequels, because you know for sure that someone hehe, I’m guilty will pick up the middle book in the series or, like, the 16th, if you’re talking Discworld and they will be utterly and completely lost. Atwater-Rhodes strikes a nice balance between realistic fiction and fantasy with her characters.

And if you’re an author, it is difficult to know exactly what you’ve mentioned before in the sequel and what you’re remembering from the first book and what, worst of all, you’re atqater-rhodes from the color-coded mental maps of the ammelia world you’ve built and, if you’re like me and some other authors I know of, have stuck into far too many Microsoft Word documents on your computer.
